Hawaiian Kainoa Coffee

February 27, 2003  ·  Category: Personal, Web Development

If only I were a coffee drinker.... My brother Dominic's roommate, Kainoa, has a corner on several tons of Hawaiian coffee beans that won Hawaii's "coffee of the year" contest last year. In fact, Kainoa's family owns the (former sugarcane) plantation where the beans were grown. So the two of them are going into business together, bringing some real coffee to all us poor mainland types. We're just getting started on their web site, and all we have so far is a temporary page. But if you're a big coffee drinker, drop them a note and tell them you want to ...

Mudita Forum …Launched

February 7, 2003  ·  Category: Meditation, Mindfulness, Mudita Forum, Web Development

Pressing obligations have prevented me from blogging much this week, but this evening I had the pleasure of launching mudita forum. Here's the welcome message I posted, which gives a preview of things to come: Welcome to Mudita Forum! We currently have 18 members, which is just about the perfect size in my mind, although I'm open to seeing the list grow. I've enjoyed reading your self-introductions, of which I'll be sending out a handful each day over the next few days. I've been discussing the concept for this list with Kirez for more than a year, and I'm ...

Redesign for Zader.com

January 23, 2003  ·  Category: Web Development

Whew. Just finished a marathon redesign of zader.com, which integrates Mudita Journal into the overall site design. I'm considering the possibility of eventually folding Zader Consulting into the mix, but I'm letting it stand alone for now. I'd welcome any feedback or bug reports.

Boggled by Google

December 23, 2002  ·  Category: Web Development

This site was indexed by Google within a few hours of its launch on December 13th, probably because of the initial links from the well-indexed domains geekpress.com and zader.com. For several days afterwards, Mudita Journal received visitors who'd done a search on Google for "condoleeza rice newsweek" (since one of my first entries addressed this topic) and MJ was a top listing for "mudita" as well. But then, just as suddenly, Mudita Journal was nowhere to be found on Google. I believe this started around Saturday. None of the above searches currently yields this site, and even a search for ...

Site Launch: Dinesh D’Souza

December 18, 2002  ·  Category: Web Development

We've finally launched the new, larger official web site for author Dinesh D'Souza, at:     www.dinesh-dsouza.com. The site is currently located at a temporary domain (hence the hyphenated name) until Dinesh succeeds in transferring dineshdsouza.com, which currently points to his old site. Please contact me with any bug reports! (I don't recommend viewing the site with Navigator 4.X; this browser is so old now that it's becoming increasingly impractical to design for.) PS: If you're unfamiliar with D'Souza's writings, I recommend taking a close look at What's So Great About America. This book provides the best overall analysis I've seen of the (moral) strengths ...
