Thanks to Andrew Schwartz for bringing this to my attention. Very good stuff. I like it when people can understand one another despite having very different beliefs; and Penn’s commentary here is an excellent example of that.

  • I agree with Penn’s approach. I think he is being reasonable in separating the content of religious beliefs, with which he disagrees, from the intent of the fellow who gave him the Bible. I believe Objectivists too often throw the person out with the holy water, meaning they assume someone who is religious automatically is irrational, a whim worshipping mystic.
