Mr. Zabriskie's words have stayed with me all theses years. "Belvedere is proud." We all came away from our three years standing a little taller and certainly growing up a little prouder. We are all in a better place in this world because he made a difference in the lives of so many young people...me especially. Thanks for sharing him with us! I was a student at Belvedere Jr. High in the late 1960′s. I am a former student @ Belvedere and I have just heard of the death of Mr. Zabriskie. In fact, there are three or four of us former alums who are in touch and are wondering if services, memorial or otherwise, are planned. If so, please inform. On a personal note, I was student body treasurer @ Belevedere, which means that I had a weekly meeting w/Mr. Zabriskie and the school business manager to talk "finances." As such, I got to know Mr. Zabriskie a little better than most of the other students. He launched a holiday food basket campaign which he called "Bells for Belles for Baskets." I will never get out of my head the sound of his deep, resonant voice asking us, "How's the Bells for Belles for Baskets campaign going?" Hello. I was dissapointed I was not there! I did not know about it until now! I would have loved to have had the honor to see your grandfather, Walter Zabriskie, again. He was a great example of what a great human being can become and give back to the community, and how he influenced his students to be the best. Thanks for your photos, I enjoyed them very much.
