Love is Stronger than Hate

Michael Barone’s column “The 51 percent nation” for US News pretty well sums up my perspective on the election. I don’t normally find value in such bromides — about love being stronger than hate — but in this case it seems particularly apropos.

Seeing so many loud Bush-haters only increased my affection for him — as a decent, well-intentioned, relatively principled man, attacked savagely by people whose ideological differences blind them to human decency and the need for civility in political discussions.
