Eat Right for Your Type

January 3, 2003  ·  Category: Personal

Kathy and I have been following the Eat Right for Your Type diet plan for a couple months now, with generally positive results. The plan prescribes dietary recommendations on the basis of your blood type, and which foods have been shown to be most nutritive (and least toxic) for your particular type.

During the time we’ve been on the plan, it has occurred to me several times that, if we grant that blood type can influence the relative nutritive value of various foods, then surely there would be other aspects of the body (e.g., metabolism, ph balance, etc.) that could have a similar influences, and should be factored in as well.

D’Adamo does address such factors in his diet, but only as covariates that cluster around a particular blood type. This strikes me as rather imprecise, when one or more of these factors could potentially be as important as blood type itself in determining the toxicity of a particular food.

I imagined a time far in the future when science could tell us such things with greater precision than today. But, according to FoxNews, that time is coming much sooner than I’d expected!
