ACTing Badly

June 10, 2004 · Filed under: Politics

I just received a phone call from “America Coming Together, a non-profit organization that is not affiliated with any political candidate.”

I was then asked questions like, “Which candidate do you support at this point in the race?” and “Which of the following is your biggest concern in the upcoming election: the economy, abortion, or the war in Iraq?”

There were probably a couple other options in there, but NATIONAL SECURITY — you know, no more September Elevenths — was not one of them. When I pointed this out, the girl said, “Gosh, you’re right. That should be on the list. Funny that it’s not.”

A quick look at their web site shows that it’s not funny at all.

The organization is clearly intended to oust George Bush from office. They have no intention of finding out what I believe is important in the election, only in obtaining support for their pre-conceived notions of what my political priorities should be.

No thanks.
