Tuesday Wedding Club

July 12, 2003 · Filed under: Personal

I’m afraid Wilkinson’s Law is in full force this month: Life is so busy, so blog-worthy, that I’ve had little spare time with which to blog about it.

Tomorrow morning, Kathy and I will be leaving for La Jolla, to induct Kirez Anderson Reynolds and Jungmin Lee into the Tuesday Wedding Club.

When Kathy and I married on September 12, 2000—one year from the day we fell in love—our family was a bit nonplussed that we would hold the wedding on a Tuesday. We solved the problem, indirectly, by having an ultra-private wedding in the San Jacinto Mountains, and inviting our family and close friends to a more conveniently scheduled reception here in Albuquerque a few weeks later.

Kirez is not so meek. As the second inductees into the Tuesday Wedding Club, he and Jungmin will be marrying this Tuesday, before an audience of 50 or so, and holding their reception on the same day. (The nerve! Can you imagine?) Yours truly will be officiating, and I’m looking forward to it immensely.

Kathy and I have reserved a room at Scripps Inn, overlooking the wedding site at Whale Watch Point, near the La Jolla Coves. It should be one romantic vacation.

UPDATE (7/18/03) – Kathy and I had a wonderful trip. Our heartfelt congratulations to Kirez and Jungmin! Below is one of Kathy’s photos of the ceremony, taken as Jungmin began reading her vows to Kirez. The morning fog was still rolling in off the coast, with the shoreline immediately behind us.
